Roaming the Hills

Roaming the green hills north of Strawberry Reservoir is an adventure every time.We traveled along a road briefly, but most of the ride was cross country.
Steve is always on the lookout for birds flying out of bushes as we pass nearby.  Once in a while he finds a nest.
The Little West Fork of the Duchesne River has just enough water for Daisy's bath. She likes it cold, very cold.
Steve takes a nap along the banks.
Daisy fails to guard him and wake him up after a few minutes because she's busy chomping deer bones.
Bluebells
The ground is covered with green plants, but only a few are blooming so far.
On the way back, Steve finds some good grass for Boss, a rare patch among a sea of corn lilies (false-hellebore).  Steve slouches in the saddle as he waits for slower companions to catch up.

  1. You had some beautiful hills to travel through on this ride. I don't blame you at all for leaving the road. The blossoms you found are beautiful. I doubt that I would like my bath as cold as Daisy does. I wonder who those 'slower companions' might be?

  4. Daisy has the best life of all dogs. She gets to run outside, find snow AND get deer bones to crunch!

    I love how baby birds are always so tired, all they can do is eat and collapse in a little pile.

    Perfect for getting off the beaten trail, right Janie.

  8. My new regret in life is that I don't live on a giant ranch near a mountain and know how to ride a horse. (Slogging through swamp is novel, but I'd rather be high and dry in the saddle instead.)

  11. Baby birds look so fragile! )And they are.) Daisy is amazing how she can stand in very cold water without turning blue. :)

  12. I know you are NOT the slower companion. :)
    Daisy likes the water cold? I guess it feels good to her. Our boxers would die before walking into water, no matter the temp. {sissies}
    Love those baby birds!

  17. fun fun fun! Looks like Daisy is enjoying herself too. Any idea what kind of nest it was? I'm starting today to work out some horses for a friend a few times a week. Fingers crossed I can follow through with it though cause my back issues have gotten worse (ugh). Looking forward to some horse/barn time!
