We just returned from two nights in the Book Cliffs. My favorite part was dawn lighting up the canyons.
Second best was seeing those last glowing embers of sunset.
This doe visited the camp one morning.
And a buck stopped by the next morning. We loved seeing the deer, but I hope they are a little more discreet when deer hunting season starts in a few weeks.
Boss was alert to these strangers in camp. Mischief wasn't at all concerned.
More on the rides and sights in future posts...
Heaven! I'm in HEAVEN! Gosh, you share some of the most moving beautiful spectacular scenes one could ever imagine. Breathtaking!

You early birds, you. Looks like it was worth it. Mischief's mane and forelock are looking quite poofy and beautiful. Tell him I said handsome though.
ReplyDeleteWow---a gorgeous sunrise, beautiful sunset, and gorgeous deer ---all in the same place... Life is GOOD.... WOW!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Janie.

Your first two pictures are absolutely gorgeous, but I like your camp visitors as well.
ReplyDeleteI can see why sun rise and set were your favorite parts. Those deer better watch out approaching camp like that.
ReplyDeletevery pretty sunrises and sunsets--The Bookcliffs are a wonderful place to ride through. I'm looking forward to your posts.
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures of the sunset!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics of the sunset silhouetted by the tree and the two deer. Looks like a nice trip.
ReplyDeleteAlways beautiful sights from you!!! Yeah, I hope the deer check their calendars soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm usually more awake at sunset than sunrise. Ironically.
ReplyDeleteIt's strange that the deer should approach your camp so readily. I wonder what drew them.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying your spectacular Western scenery as always, and the sight of your friendly horses. As for the deer, it seems I've become a bit of a deer magnet myself this past week ... They've been showing up unafraid and eating the bushes and flowers just several feet away from me, on church grounds, at my apartment, crossing the street in front of my car like they own the road, so that I feel like the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz with all the crows landing on him. Only, I live in the built-up suburbs!
ReplyDeleteAs always your photos are beautiful, Janie. I love that it is untouched by the hand of man.
