Steve and I first hiked along Slough Creek in Yellowstone about 30 years ago, and it was just as much fun exploring it with the grandkids.
An old park ranger cabin overlooks the creek.
A bear had wandered nearby. Probably a black bear. We didn't see him.
The kids threw grasshoppers in the water and watched cutthroat trout rise to the occasion.
Playing around with Dad is always fun.
Do these kids ever run out of energy? Not that I can tell!
I love that you're revisiting these beautiful places with the the grandchildren. Building memories on memories.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite campground and fishing venue in the park. Sons and I have been there many times.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice hike. Great to be away from the crowds I bet.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely place to hike and wonderful to be able to share it with your grandchildren. They may not run out of energy but I bet they sleep soundly at night.
ReplyDeletea beautiful place--and so much more fun with kids. Looks like the bear had some berries for lunch.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful and peaceful area...and no those kids never get tired. Until they are 15. (then, they are always tired for some reason)
ReplyDeleteThat is some scat pile!!
Those are really great photos and even that scat pile was interesting :) What a wonderful time for your grandkids, for everyone.
ReplyDeleteLove the panoramas. Fun 'splorin' too. (Sland for "exploring.")
ReplyDeleteOops. I meant slang ... not sland.
ReplyDeleteOne of the perks of being a grandparent is sharing things we love with them. That was one BIg bear if the scat is any indication. (Shaped like a heart, no less!)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous landscape and unforgettable memories and adventure for the kids too.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun for the grandkids, adults, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to spend time with your kids and grandkids and such a beautiful place. My oldest grandchild will be old enough next summer for an adventure on Haida Gwaii and I can hardly wait...it the meantime I will explore his neighbourhood! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSmiles
awww, looks like tons of fun!! So does the post above, fun photos!
ReplyDeletetoo bad we can't bottle that energy...great shots...
ReplyDeleteGreat family fun pics--looks like your gkids are not suffering nature deprivation! If you ever get cabin fever in late winter, check out the good x-ski trails in the Mammoth area.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see the kids having a great time out in nature. Lucky kids! I bet as adults they'll talk about tossing grasshoppers for fish.
ReplyDeleteCan't beat 'follow the leader' through Yellowstone for having fun.. no matter your age.
ReplyDeleteWish I were there playing along.. ole kid that i am.
hugs,
Pam i am :D
