A few groves still maintain their full glory.
Daisy enjoys swimming with floating leaves in a reflecting pond.
We stopped at this fence for a quick lunch.
The view toward Daniel's Pass still has lots of color.
Aspen surround a rock fin on the side of a mountain. Willows are in the foreground, growing along a creek.
Gold leaves hang on the spruce boughs like Christmas ornaments lit by the sun.
Just wow, so colorful. My Dad who lives north of you in Idaho reports cool mornings.
ReplyDeleteVery nice yet I know what comes next and I don't do well with that white stuff and the cold.
ReplyDeleteHi Janie, I have seen your gorgeous Aspen photos on your blog for several years. This year--I finally got to see the Aspens in person myself. WOW---how fabulous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOur vacation was tremendous --and I'll be going through photos for weeks and weeks. ha
LOVE your photos today. Thanks!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
I love the Aspens in the fall when the golden leaves play off the black-and-white trunks.
ReplyDeleteWe took the kids for a ride around the Nebo Loop the last week of September and the Fall color was the best I've seen that I can recall. It's like all trees are going at the same time this year up here rather than sequencing by elevation. Amazing!
your pictures always make feel a little bit homesick for the days I used to ride a horse through the mountains of Utah with my dad. What a lovely day--
ReplyDeleteBeautiful trees, robed in gold and see Steve and his mount are clad in the orange of hunting season.
ReplyDeleteStill quite pretty there! Does this mean you might get your first snow soon?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors of fall. And Daisy is cooling off in the pond.
ReplyDeleteWe very much enjoyed the golden showers of aspen leaves we enjoyed while we were hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was thrilling to see all of those beautiful aspens in all of their glory.
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious time. I need to seriously think about a fall trip west some year...:)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! The aspen leaves sure do look like ornaments on the spruce trees. The leaves haven't even started changing color here.
ReplyDeleteIt must be wonderful to ride through fall's changing landscape! Daisy is swimming through gold. In Moab last week there was very little indication of fall. (Busy in Arches though)
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking! Do you think this is the most beautiful time of year in your area?? Or do you prefer spring?
ReplyDeleteThe golds/yellows make me swoon!
Those gold leaves really do look like Christmas ornaments! Splendid!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't want to see the fall colors disappear the golden carpet is equally delightful. Look almost like that here.
ReplyDeleteJust look at all that gorgeous color at Daniel's Pass! WOW! Daisy looks like she's enjoying her swim.
ReplyDeleteWe were out that way 2 weeks ago and the colors were just starting. There was also A LOT of wildfire smoke in the air so our photos aren't nearly as pretty as yours.
Just beautiful! Great shot of the golden leaves decorating the spruce.
ReplyDeleteWhat OPENNESS. The combination of that, and the colors, and the elevation, and what I'm sure are cool temps...and I am jealous! Enjoy your Rocky Mountain fall for me!
ReplyDeleteI get a real sense of the turning of the year from your photos. The air looks sharper. I like the 'ornaments' on the 'Christmas tree' - perfect description:-)
ReplyDeleteA golden time of the year for sure. Your photos are just stunning, Janie...:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photographs, such colours and spaces are enrapturing. I am greeting
ReplyDeletewow! you're so far ahead of us. our trees have just started turning yellow. It has been below freezing a few night now (YIPPEEEE!!!). i hope that means it's going to be a long, drawn-out, very colorful fall here!
ReplyDelete- The Equestrian Vagabond
Outstanding! Our aspens pretty much went from green to brown with the drought, and then the 10 deg F weather this week finished them off.
