Gold wasps and black wasp in the same area:
We've never been able to identify this plant with lavendar blossoms. The entire plant is shown below for size. Anybody know what it is?
Insects may not be as cute and huggable as kittens or puppies, but bugs need lovin', too!

You got some great macros of the 'bugs'. They are certainly interesting critters.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a bug lover, but they are interesting and the colors can be magnificent. They have their place in Mother Nature. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad we are not a bug state! :) Pretty photos, though.
ReplyDeleteYuck!! I hate bugs. But those are great pictures.
ReplyDeleteMine is up over at my animal blog.
Rich color thank you
ReplyDeleteyou have a great shot of bugs, looks so cute. Visit my flamingos here, also my colorful parrots here, thanks for the visit and happy one year anniversary to you.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting and colorful bugs. I don't mind bugs as long as they don't bite me. We need them too and they are fun to photograph. Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics. I can't wait for warmer weather and the 2009 insect apocalypse! ;) LOL
ReplyDeleteLove your post with the wildflowers and insects. I am intrigued and find insects utterly interesting and have observed many in my garden. Unfortunately I can not name your bush I am not familiar with your native flowers. Your photos are excellent. I like your outdoor enthusiasm and your knowledge of the country site.
ReplyDeleteOh Janie, My son would love this post. My oldest son has loved bugs his entire life. I'm not much into them--but the ones you took are quite unique.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Hugs,
Betsy
Bugs are really cool (as long as you don't have to share your sleeping arrangements with them!)
ReplyDeleteI like bugs, their crunchy!
ReplyDeleteThey do have prettier colours though, bugs and insects. The red of the first one is so vibrant.
ReplyDeleteCute bugs!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! Cool bugs!
ReplyDeleteGreat captures of the bugs. Don't know what the pretty flowers are.
ReplyDeleteI like bugs just fine, when they know their place and I know mine.
Awesome bugs! Why aren't you playing macro monday? ;)
ReplyDeleteInteresting and colourful bugs, so much more exotic than the bugs we get here. Which reminds me, I must buy some buy spray before the weather warms up!
ReplyDeleteNice beetles! I notice you got a little closer to them than to the wasps. :P
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots Janie.
ReplyDeleteBy the way the cats wouldn't know what to do with those ducks as they have never been out doors. They would probably run and hide under the bed LOL
Bugs and flowers are a beautiful thing ... it's how the world gets pollenated. Especially the bees!
ReplyDeleteit's amazing how beautiful insects can be!
ReplyDeleteGreat macro captures!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what your plant is but your photos are wonderful. Those insects are fascinating and beautiful. Nice contrast with the flowers in the backdrop.
ReplyDeleteNice of you to give the insect world a bit of love too. I enjoyed seeing those western wildflowers. I love the Sego lily in Utah (& Idaho)and Indian Painbrush.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the 'critters.'
boy they look like they could do some damage, great photos!
ReplyDeleteThese are REALLY fantastic macro shots! The first one is especially outstanding.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I ♥ taking photos of bugs ;-)
