The horses usually watch out for Daisy, but she has been stepped on a time or two. Last Thursday, instead of getting out of the way, she ran up ahead and stopped in the trail. Coco couldn't avoid her in time.
We heard a yelp and dismounted to check out the damages.
Poor girl.
She made it the quarter mile back to the trailer on her own power. Since she was putting weight on the paw, we didn't think any bones were broken.
But she couldn't go on the ride. She was very sad when we made her a bed and left her behind.
The good news is, she's doing fine now.
A week at home, resting, and she should be good to go.
Hint for next time, Daisy: Do not stop abruptly in front of a cantering horse. This could be hazardous to your health.
Ouch,poor Daisy. Get well soon!
ReplyDeleteoh poor girl...I bet she was sad to be left behind...
ReplyDeleteOh, no! That wound looks pretty brutal. The ground must have been soft for her to escape breaking a bone. Hopefully she's learned from it.
ReplyDeletePoor little girl, that looks like it really hurt too.
ReplyDeleteI bet she got lots of hugs and kisses, that makes most everything feel better!
Poor Daisy.... I know that she was sad to miss the ride that day.. BUT---am glad that she is doing fine now... Hope she learned her lesson...
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetie..
Hugs,
Betsy
Daisy looks So sad in the last photo. Coco and her are probably still working out their timing.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a "sad dog" face if I've ever seen one! And what's that saying: "a burnt dog dreads the fire?" That definitely applies in this case. The good news of course is that "all's well that ends well" and that Daisy is back on the mend (and wiser for it!)
ReplyDeleteOh, it looks like her exuberance got the best of her. I agree that is one tragic dog face. Hope she is back in the saddle again soon.
ReplyDeleteOuch - poor Daisy! That first photo is just wonderful!
ReplyDeletePoor girl... Hope she gets fine soon:)
ReplyDeleteBest wishe for Daisy to get better soon!
ReplyDeleteAww, that's a forlorn look, if I ever saw one. Poor Daisy looks like she has temporally lost her enthusiasm.
ReplyDeleteI hope your paw heals soon, Dear Sweet Miss Daisy!
So glad the injury wasn't worse. Such a sad sweet face.
ReplyDeletePoor Daisy! I'm glad to hear that she is going to be alright and will be able to go on your next ride. She needs to remember that Coco, Mischief and Boss are much bigger than she is!
ReplyDeleteHopefully she will be the wiser for it. It's so much fun though...romping with the horses.
ReplyDeleteoh, poor daisy! Hope she's back on her feet soon.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Our new dog Molly has finally learned to slow down & duck when going through barbwire fences. To paraphrase Aldous Huxley's Rowley, "Rightly is they called dogs, sir." (Crome Yellow, p. 20)
ReplyDeleteThe first photo is so great! But poor Daisy! She looks so sad. :(
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, poor baby! I agree with Lisa though, that first photo is really super. Glad to hear Daisy is okay now.
