Wintry Trail

When we rode in the Indian Canyon area last Sunday, (trailhead 8900 ft/ 2700 m) we found a taste of winter awaiting us.
The temperature never got much about freezing, and the forest trails were dusted with snow.
After the last few days of winter storm, that same trail probably has 6 inches of snow.  We still have lots of lower areas in which to ride, but terrain above 9000 feet will be snow-covered until spring.

  1. Well, I see you've had some snow at altitude, too. We keep checking UT ski areas - just in case we should bring our skis along to SL.

  3. We had a sheet of ice under an inch of snow this morning, all the way down the canyon. I guess it's winter now.

  4. How gorgeous!!!
I fantasize about how nice the cool air would feel...it is 98 here today. BUT we have a cool front coming in on Monday and expect highs in the mid 80's. :0
wanna trade for a few days?

  5. Well you know how much I love snow. However, it's a little EARLY for me--since I am still enjoying Fall.

Great pictures though. I'll bet you all miss riding in the higher elevations during the winters.. Glad there are trails that you can check out.

    Happy Halloween.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  9. This was a pretty preview of winter. I've heard about the storm out your way and I can only say that I hope you keep the snow in the west.
