Our rides in the Indian Canyon area encompass some rugged territory. Avintaquin Canyon features cliff walls on either side, narrow leaf cottonwoods along the creek, and a mountain view. And since there are no roads or easy access, we have it all to ourselves.

ReplyDeleteWhat a treat to enter such fresh and virgin country. Steve is very good at that topo map stuff to bring you to such a gorgeous and secluded landscape.

ReplyDelete:)
What a gorgeous blue sky! I miss the vistas we used to get when we lived out west!
ReplyDeleteFrom that view it almost looks like a "saddle," but if that were the case it would run clear through the range, or at least provide a lower spot across it. Beautiful country!
ReplyDeleteLove your scenery, i a sorry we never got to see your part of Utah
ReplyDeleteIt is rough country. When I was a kid we used to hike down into a steep ravine filled with tall dark pines and ton's of fallen logs. As I remember there was a log fence running around the rim that we used to walk on. We called it voodoo valley and thought it was haunted. It was near the Avintiquin (sp) campground
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture of the rough and the indian canyon! Nice shot!

ReplyDeletewhen you go on trails like this and this activity alone does demand a hefty appetite, how much sandwiches do you pack? drinks?
ReplyDeleteand what about the horses? just curious.
I think it was a crazy deer. That looks so dangerous. Definitely a place for the experienced rider.
