Autumn Moon

On a cold, crisp morning, October 5th, the moon sets over a cottonwood tree.
The leaves show a hint of amber.

The aspens in our yard are already turning gold.
Autumn is here!

  1. The second photo is luminous. Strange description (perhaps some form of word association?) but it's what I think when I see it. :)

  3. Delightful shots! Love the moon! And, yes, we're beginning to see more and more gold and red and it's lovely!

  5. The moon has been gorgeous this week. I especially enjoyed it on Friday and Saturday. It was so enormous as it appeared on the horizon. My camera is too small to get a good shot of the moon. My husband is headed to Roosevelt tomorrow :)

  9. Hi Janie,
It must be marvelous to be cool and have autumn gold in your yard.
We are still sweltering in the autumn heat :P

  13. For use down here it's when the cypress needles fall. That hasn't happened yet (it will in about a month.) That moon wouldn't happen to be the same one we see here in Florida would it? (Don't answer that -- I'll "google" it!)

  14. Hi Janie

I love the moon over the cottonwood, for some reason it feels like Africa.
We have a cottonwood but it is not your one. Ours grows on coastal shores as in Hawaii..

    Happy days

  23. Great shots! I know you said it was a cold, crisp morning, but that second shot, to me, has a warm feel to it. I guess I'm in denial about the cooler weather in general! LOL!

  24. Beautiful! Our trees are turning, too, and no frost yet. I hope the frost doesn't just knock all the leaves off and we miss the best part.

  26. Very beautiful moon on that night over in New Zealand. While your Autumn is kicking up, and our Spring down in Australia is almost like Summer, the season in contrast brought New Zealand in a spectacular and stunning view with the presence of what they called "unseasonal Snow!"

Yes, it snowed while I was there. The beauty of the mountains clad in snow were just amazing!

  27. To see such a sky! I appreciate this photo very much. I live in the city where most of the sky is fragmented with buildings.
