Staying Cool

As we were driving home from a recent hiking adventure, we saw 2 sandhill cranes who had found a way to beat the heat.
They were having a fine day hanging out under the spray of an irrigation wheel line.
Hey, is that a swallow trying to get into the act?
Well, that's okay.  Plenty of water and bugs for everyone.
*We're out of town for a few days.  I'll catch up with your blogs when I get back!

  1. That's the perfect thing to do on a hot summer day, Janie.... Those cranes and the swallow are SMART....

    Have a nice trip.
    Hugs,

  2. What a wonderful summer you are having Janie and your country is so beautiful. I have seen more than my fair share of wildflowers this spring and summer and it makes me happy. We have about 10 pairs of sandhill cranes spending the summer here and raising their young at the north end of the island plus many that stop and rest on their way north or south.
They are amazing to watch. Have a wonderful week.

  9. The Sandhill cranes in your part of the country are different colors from our Florida SH cranes.
    Beautiful photos, Janie.

Happy trails to you and Steve.
