Flowers in the Sand

The high desert is in bloom, full of prickly pear cactus blossoms,
pink.
and yellow.
Sunflowers reach for the sky,
chicory provides a bit of blue,
and the yucca plants get fancy.
The delicate sego lily, Utah's state flower is yet another special treat.   (Those are little bugs on it.  I guess they wanted a treat, too!)

  7. The sego lily is a striking choice for the Utah state flower. All of your blossoms are gorgeous, and the yellow flower on the prickly pear is one of my favorites.

  10. You've shared some beautiful desert flowers with us. I'm afraid we don't often think of beautiful flowers and desert at the same time. Thanks for the education.

  13. Great shots--our Sego Lillies look a little different. I'll have to double-check now when they bloom (late July or Aug) to make sure I've got the right species!
