Yesterday we went to see how our neighbor's calves are coming along. Seven have been born so far.
This one wasn't concerned about having company. He didn't bother to get up.
This little lady blinked at us with her pretty, long-lashed eyes.
This one was a little shy.
He hurried to stay close to Mom. I guess he thought the people were too scary.

Those little ones are sure cute. The one in the first photo is smart - it's too cold to get up out of the hay!
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable - and yes, I know that's dreadfully sentimental. Young animals of any species are just so . . . innocent. (Don't think I could be a farmer . . . ;-()
ReplyDeleteLoved this post! Coincidentally, I posted about cattle today too. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Janie, what adorable little guys/gals! They are so beautiful! And, yes, I'm a complete wuss where these little guys are concerned. When I was a teenager I used to visit my uncles farm and frequently during calving he and I would go out to look for the ones that weren't able to get up and follow their mother to the barn. Seemed like there were always a few. And my uncle would lift them up and put them in front of me on my horse and then we'd carry them in. I always looked forward to my visits there and this was one of the main reasons. Fun memories! Hope you have a great week!

Janie, they are too cute for words. And the Mom's are pretty too.
ReplyDeleteThey are cute. In a few months when we return to the Sierra the meadows around Bridgeport will be full of them. There the grass is lush all summer.
ReplyDeletePeople are scary! :) I love watching baby cows run and play, it's one of the cutest things! Love the pictures!
ReplyDeletethank you for posting a delightful peek into your world today.
ReplyDeleteMaybe his mum tells that if he's not good the humans will make him into hamburger and steak... ;)
ReplyDeleteThey are incredibly striking against the snow, and I know it's probably silly, but I'm amazed that they're not cold!
Thank you so much for all the supportive comments too, I'm going to take you advice.
Very cute Janie. I agree, sometimes people are scary. :)
ReplyDeleteAren't they just little sweeties, Janie???? How many calves does one Mama have?? Seems very cold this time of year to be having new babies... I thought they had theirs in Spring... Obviously, I'm wrong.. (See how much of a rancher I am????? ha ha)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the new babies..
Hugs,
Betsy
Your winter scenery is lovely. Those calves have a lot of growing to do!
ReplyDeleteVery cute little ones. They are happy in their mother's company.
ReplyDeleteMust be a delight to see them hopping around.
ReplyDeleteJanie...so cute...signs that spring is on the way...babies being born...
ReplyDeleteThose little calves are a sure sign of spring.
ReplyDeleteCute...calves in the snow..never seen that before!

Some of my happiest childhood memories took place on my Grandma and Grandpa's farm in Oregon. I LOVED feeding the baby calves with the nipple pail. I'd even dance and sing for the cows like the silly City kid I was.
ReplyDeleteOh what deep snow for little ones to be in. Obviously they cope. Lovely post, Janie.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!!! Great photos!!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThose calves are so cute, great pics.

Great post, that last piccie is sooo cute. What a chilly welcome into their new world!
ReplyDeleteCalves are so cool. They have their own personalities. (not that I know a thing about it.)
ReplyDeletethat's what I love about calves the most--their eyes
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your 'calf' adventure with us virtually ... embiggening the photos gave a better look at those lovely big eyes.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
It always amazes me how cows calve over the winter. The calves sure are cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks for these wonderful pictures of the calves. You're really having a population explosion in your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteYoung animals of any species are just so .
