Here Comes the Sun

Our winter days usually start out foggy, with hoarfrost on the trees.
On a mid-morning ski tour in the nearby "Cedars",
snow-covered rocks look like iced layer cake.
Distant mountains are a ghostly glow against the clearing sky.
As the sun comes out, even the weeds sparkle with their crystalline coating.
And Queen Daisy rules the wintry hills.

  6. Wow Janie... What a ski-trip you had.. I have never done any cross-country skiing --so I have a question.. How do you know where you are going?? Are you following some kind to trail--which you cannot see???? I'd be afraid that I'd run into a big rock hidden by the snow and then fall... I'm just curious... How do you do it????

    Beautiful pictures.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  7. The snow-covered rocks do look like iced cakes. And Queen Daisy "takes the cake" for attitude. I'm with Betsy here above. How do you do it?

  28. It's funny to me how snowy fields and things can look so much like sandy beaches. Maybe I'm hallucinating, but they're BOTH beautiful!! ♥

  31. Now that's some pristine snow. I love the hoar frost. A local one time told me of seeing it in the early morning freeze long ago in the Everglades. That's a once a decade siting, if not more ...

  32. I've never SEEN hoar frost (I've only READ of it in books) so I was delighted to embiggen your first photo to see it better. Daisy always makes me smile and I can't help but wonder what Molly would make of your wintry world. Today's she's frustrated because it's raining in Southern California. My silly 'water dog' prefers puddles to drizzily skies ... seriously ;-)
    Hugs and blessings,

  36. Your Daisy is such a beautiful sight, as she stands watch on the snowy mountainside. That a gorgeous blue sky overhead, enjoy it.
