On a mid-morning ski tour in the nearby "Cedars",
snow-covered rocks look like iced layer cake.
Distant mountains are a ghostly glow against the clearing sky.
As the sun comes out, even the weeds sparkle with their crystalline coating.
And Queen Daisy rules the wintry hills.

Hoar frost is so magical. I always grab my camera when I see it. The skies are extremely blue!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Such a vivid blue sky! And Daisy looks so happy! I imagine you were, too! Do love the "icing" on that layer cake!! Have a great weekend, Janie! Hugs to Daisy and Mischief!

so beautiful...all the white against the blue blue sky!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, what a view. I always enjoy pictures of the Queen also.
ReplyDeleteWow Janie... What a ski-trip you had.. I have never done any cross-country skiing --so I have a question.. How do you know where you are going?? Are you following some kind to trail--which you cannot see???? I'd be afraid that I'd run into a big rock hidden by the snow and then fall... I'm just curious... How do you do it????
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures.
Hugs,
Betsy
The snow-covered rocks do look like iced cakes. And Queen Daisy "takes the cake" for attitude. I'm with Betsy here above. How do you do it?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful , all that snow and the blue sky
ReplyDeleteBeautiful winter shots of snow covered rocks and mountains against the blue sky.
ReplyDeleteYipes, this looks cold. The sun makes it beautiful. You took some wonderful pictures to tell this story. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI just sent you an email, Janie. Love the pictures. You capture everything so beautifully.

I lve that you get out and enjoy the beauty of winter. I wish I could...I just get so cold so easy and I really dislike being cold. Snow is so pure and beautiful though.
ReplyDeleteLooks like paradise to me. Beautiful captures.
ReplyDeleteI love those blue UT skies especially when they include Queen Daisy!
ReplyDeleteThe snow does look like the fluffiest of cake icing under a brilliant blue sky. Lucky Daisy.
ReplyDeleteloved this post--you described everything so well.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love the picture of Daisy in the snow with the brilliant blue sky overhead.
ReplyDeleteWonderful sky photos, Janie. I just love your Queen Daisy!

Such clear cold crisp blue skies. Just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYes, white frosting under blue sky. Isn't Daisy having a great time?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. I'll bet your horses are getting restless about getting out in the wilds again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow scenes and perfect for skiing. However, I will welcome warmer, sunny days.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny to me how snowy fields and things can look so much like sandy beaches. Maybe I'm hallucinating, but they're BOTH beautiful!! ♥
ReplyDeleteLovely shots, doesn't snow make everything look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love days like this...great captures! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSmiles
Now that's some pristine snow. I love the hoar frost. A local one time told me of seeing it in the early morning freeze long ago in the Everglades. That's a once a decade siting, if not more ...
ReplyDeleteI've never SEEN hoar frost (I've only READ of it in books) so I was delighted to embiggen your first photo to see it better. Daisy always makes me smile and I can't help but wonder what Molly would make of your wintry world. Today's she's frustrated because it's raining in Southern California. My silly 'water dog' prefers puddles to drizzily skies ... seriously ;-)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Absolutely gorgeous! Glad to see the sun shining - now if only we could get the sun to shine here in Florida!!
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous! The snow looks so beautiful in the high country and Daisy looks ready to explore.
ReplyDeleteThe snow under those beautiful blue skies looks absolutely gorgeous. I think even I could like snow under those circumstances.
ReplyDeletePretty blue sky and snow photos!
ReplyDeleteYour Daisy is such a beautiful sight, as she stands watch on the snowy mountainside. That a gorgeous blue sky overhead, enjoy it.
