Is it Spring Yet?

I have always thought of robins as harbingers of spring, so I was surprised to notice that the robins are still here, even in the snow.  Apparently, robins are year round residents in Utah.
This female is lucky to have a big supply of crabapples to keep her well-fed.

  4. That is very interesting. I didn't think they were snow birds either. We should spot our first one some time in May. I wonder where our birds fly to? Beautiful photography.

  5. Lovely photographs! It looks as though there's plenty of food available for them though I suppose insects might be a bit elusive.

  6. I did not know that. We have tons of Robins here but we're a lot warmer than you! There must be enough berries to feast on to keep them warm.

  22. In answer to your title, Janie - I don't think so! That last shot of the robin with the muted background is wonderful (even if it isn't spring yet...).

  23. The red berries make for a perfect composition for the lovely feathered creature!
Our robins do go elsewhere and should be returning anytime now. Can hardly wait to see that first sign of spring. :)

  25. Can't wait for spring! I was just looking at average temps per month and Feb is a good 5 degrees higher than Jan. Temps rising, days getting longer, very exciting! It might even be a little extra exciting because I just drank a cup of coffee... but still very exciting.

  27. Interesting, Janie... I think Robin's are everywhere during all seasons. However, we don't see them much during winter here. Lately, since our temps have mellowed, I've seen them more.

    Great pictures.

  34. I wouldn't have thought they'd still be there in that weather either!

My husband has always wanted to move to Utah. I was just out walking in 78 degree sunny weather yesterday, I think I'll stay here in Florida!
