September Wedding

We were pleased to attend our son's wedding recently.  The happy couple had beautiful weather for their outdoor wedding and a crowd of friends and family to help celebrate their union.
Our eldest granddaughter and grandson served as flower girl and ringbearer.  The grandson expressed a wish to keep the rings, but, alas, that was not allowed.  Apparently he had been opening the box and playing with the rings, because when the box was opened during the ceremony, both rings fell out onto the grass!  Oh, well, both were retrieved with only a little effort and a few chuckles.  What perfect wedding is complete without one tiny mishap?
Our granddaughter (on the right in the older photo above) was experienced in her role.  She was also a flower girl for our daughter's wedding 5 years ago.  On that occasion, when she heard she was supposed to throw flower petals from her basket to the ground, she was distressed.  She wanted to pick up flower petals, not throw them away!
She also refused to wear shoes.  She went home barefoot, with a basket full of rose petals.  Her role as errant (but super sweet!) toddler flower girl was a complete success.
Now that she's six, she threw out the petals as requested, but she did go around collecting any loose bouquet flowers.  She still went home with a basketful of roses and a smile.

  7. How lovely to have an outdoor wedding. I love all the informal photos, especially the one of the two flower girls. Your granddaughter looks as if she's trying to learn from the older child.

  8. Congratulations, Janie on the marriage of your son to his beautiful bride. Oh how I love children in a wedding procession and yours (g/s and opened ring box) plus g/d who saved the rose petals. How lovely to get a glimpse of your daughter's wedding as well. You can be proud of your lovely family and know you're all a blessing to each other. Thanks for sharing. Jo

And I chuckled at the little flower girl's love of all things petal. Wonder where she got THAT from! LOL!
