Since our last ride there in July, the predominant pink and blue wildflowers have given way to an abundance of yellow and white, goldeneye and yarrow,
Cows still graze in the high country, but the ranchers that hold the grazing permit will move their stock to lower altitudes soon.
We rode 16 miles and gained 4200 feet in altitude (1400 m) to see: Strawberry Reservoir to the south, We'll try to visit again in September, when the elk bulls bugle their mating call and aspen turn gold.

Wow, Janie, I'd forgotten how restful your rides and mountain posts are. Thank you for the most stunning views, glorious flower colours and sharing Daisy's delightful nature with us. Thanks for visiting my blog even when I was travelling across Africa. (((Hugs))) Jo now of North Africa.
ReplyDeleteThese, once again are beautiful photos of your surrounding scenery.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I would have Daisy in Orange too...HEAD TO TAIL. :)
Excited to see your Fall colors. I imagine it will be quite a sight. Glad you've got your orange on. I wish everyone was as smart while out in the woods during hunting season.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great ride! and I'm always so delighted that you take us along! Your photos are magnificent! Love Daisy in "orange"! Fall is definitely on the way! Thanks for the beauty, Janie!

ReplyDeleteHi Janie... Here in Tennessee, we are all about ORANGE these days also---but not for the reasons you wear orange. We wear it to support our Tennessee Orange Volunteers. We have a new coach this year, so we are all waiting to see what he/they can do. I don't have alot of confidence --but it is exciting.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos from that gorgeous area of the country.
Hugs,
Betsy
Another fantastic ride through the wonderful world you and Steve live in, Janie.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw that last photo, I was wondering just how far we could see... its a breathtaking view.
Be safe this season and carry an orange flag :)))
These shots are all so wonderful and I love your dog donning the orange bandanna. Both a safety and fashion statement.
ReplyDeleteLove those mountain views...Hunting season would make me a little nervous...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Stay safe; stay orange.
ReplyDeleteThe eye picks up yellow and orange first ... don't ask me why: but that's why flowers and traffic signs are that color. Apparently humans obtained ability to see colors in order to find berries and fruits ... that's what I read anyhow. Yes, fall will be setting in soon ... except here in Florida. Many weeks to go!
ReplyDeleteNice pictures. You live in such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteIt always blows me away to see such magnificent scenery. Fantastic post!
ReplyDeleteThe snaps are very beautiful.Lovely scenic spot.

I always love your wonderful rides but am not a fan of the hunting season where it is unsafe for children abd animals to be outdoors. When we lived in Vermont, we had hunters shoot clear across our yard from one hillside to another.
ReplyDeleteI love this virtual horse rides through your posts.
