Daisy's Telepathy

When Daisy senses we're heading out for a ride (and she's never wrong), she becomes manic.  She grabs the halters out of the garage and starts dragging them toward the barn.  Although we go out to the barn at least twice a day, she only grabs the halters when we mean business (a real ride).  Somehow, she knows.
We've been riding in Halfway Hollow several times a week, taking advantage of highs in the low 40's and still no snow.
You never know what you'll find.  Does this bicycle designate a trail, or did the bike just die in the middle of nowhere and was buried, wheels up, on the spot?
This looks like a grave,
But apparently it indicate that a survey marker is nearby.  This could be the work of our friend Yogi, who admits to piling rocks over benchmarks in his highly rebellious youth!
This rock formation appears to be falling in slow-mo.
We ride down the hollow,
and sometimes on the mesa tops.  This BLM tract is huge.  We still have a lot to explore.

  1. Daisy is one smart pooch! I agree, this winter has been unusually dry and warm. They said on the news last night we should water our trees because there hasn't been enough moisture to keep them through the winter. I don't think I've ever had to water my trees in the winter before. Enjoy your exploring.

  2. This sure has been the winter for riding and Daisy surely doesn't want to miss going along.

Didn't realize Yogi piled rocks on survey markers in his past. Maybe that's why he's a geocacher now.

But the bike, that's just weird.

  4. Dogs have a highly-developed sense of impending events, no matter how hard you try to fool them. Clever Daisy:-)

  5. I've always felt Daisy was a very intelligent dog, and you've confirmed my belief. I would like to know the story behind the bicycle, but I really like the picture of your slow-motion falling rock formation.

  11. There is a lot of wide open spaces out your way. I'd need a GPS to find my way home but I suspect Daisy serves the same pupose.

  15. Beautiful! Hey- I was on the "Western Life" radio show this week for work and I told them about you. I think they'd love to hear about the adventures you guys have in the back country. Is it okay if I send them a link to your blog? They may want to interview you for the show.

  18. Our dogs get manic too! sad thing is one is getting too old to keep up.
I always want to take a rock bar to those nearly-toppled rocks and see if I can't nudge them over!

  19. I love the bike too! Indeed, it looks like someone died doing something they loved. In that case, thank goodness it was a bike and not a tractor.
... and LOVE the Daisy Radar!!! (Dai-dar?) She seems like quite the awesome friend.

  21. I DO think dogs have a sense we humans do not have. I'm not surprised Daisy knows when you're going for a serious ride.

    Love those BLUE sky shots!

  25. That Daisy will take over for you! Love the last pic of Steve and that sky. Such wide open spaces. I think that might be my old road bike - I did get really tired of riding when we went across country!

  26. Your Daisy is something else! How smart she is!

Love that colorful landscape. I wonder what happened to the owner of the bike?
