Fences and Flowers

At the Lake Mountain trailhead located off the Paradise Park Road, balsamroot and larkspur dot the landscape.
The narrow leaf cottonwoods are coming to life along Mosby Creek.
A morning cloak butterfly lights near the water.
Thick patches of gooseberry are in bloom.
Up at 9000 ft near Gull Lake, springbeauty carpets the ground beneath the aspens.
Marsh Peak, still covered with snow, rises to the north.
A deer bounds across a high meadow. (Since this was taken on short notice and from aboard a horse, it's not as clear as one might hope...)
As we ride back to the trailhead, we see a single Daisy growing... er, resting, in Mosby Creek.

  2. Oh wow, so pretty Janie and Daisy is the prettiest. Do love that first shot with the flowers and the fencepost though, but every photo is very enjoyable.

  5. There is something so peaceful about a meadow covered in spring flowers.. and then there is the adorable Miss Daisy cooling off in a nearby stream. See any trout, Missy D?
Another lovely day on the open range, thanks Janie.

  8. What a great collection of photos. Of course, Daisy cooling off is kind of turning into a mandatory pic.

  12. I drove through LaPoint last week and looked longingly at the turn to Paradise Park. We haven't been up there in years. Nice to see it looking so beautiful.

  13. That's an adorable shot of Daisy. That dog must like her some cold water! :) Beautiful spring wildflowers. It always amazes me how short the growing season is up in the mountains. So much happens in such a short period of time.

  14. That single Daisy is the most precious of them all. The wildflowers in front of the fence is a really nice capture.

  17. I've never seen so many spring beauties in one place! Beautiful shot of the mourning clock. I think it's amazing how Daisy cannot resist water. :)
