Along the Spur Road

Our route led mostly north toward the Book Cliffs.  We followed the old Spur road when we could find it, but it became less obvious the further we went.
The views to the east toward the Canyonlands Island and the Sky District continued to be magnificent:
The country was rough and wild:
No one else was about.  Of course, getting there hadn't been easy. Perhaps the sane folks all stayed home.
When our riding day was half over, we saw that we wouldn't reach the end of the old Spur road, which comes to an overlook of the Green River Gorge, so we settled for a mesa-top view of a huge green meadow.
Almost 16 miles of riding was enough for one day. Besides, it was looking like rain, and we wanted to get past our road fill project before it washed out!
The "road" was just as gnarly going out as going in, but the beauty of the landscape made it worthwhile.

  3. Wow, not much of a road at all. You always amaze me how you can find your way around in the middle of nowhere!

  4. Oh, I'm so jealous! I have to get directions for this ride. Would love to drag our horsies down there. I'm very tired of the snows up here in northern UT. Looks like loads of fun. And, no atvs? That's a nice treat.

  5. what very dramatic vista's--also from the previous post. My favorite picture from all these posts is Cleopatra's Chair with the LaSal's in the background. What a marvelous adventure.

  7. You said: "Perhaps the sane folks all stayed home." More than likely you could reverse that and contend the two most sanest people in the planet where on that "what was once a trail" taking in the scenery that all the insane ones stuck at home missed out! :^)

  9. You certainly went through a lot to make this ride, but the scenery more than makes up for it. The scenery is absolutely spectacular. I'm glad you made it back over your road project before the rain.
