Rainier Flora

Mount Rainier National Park features several plant species that we don't find, or only rarely, in the Uintas:
BearGrass
Avalanche Lily
Pasqueflower

Pasqueflower Seedheads
Lousewort
Shooting Star
Magenta Paintbrush
Lupine leaves with morning crystalline dewdrops
It's still spring at 6000 feet in Mount Rainier National Park.  The snow in the meadows probably didn't melt until a month ago, since snowbanks still remain on some parts of the trail.

  2. Fun to compare your home turf to a similar alpine environment. I find the same with the swamps, too.

  9. Wonderful shot of the mountain and low, low clouds. Really nice photo.

The Bear Grass is so unusual! And three of of the flowers seem like spring flowers to me: pasquef lower, avalanche lily, and shooting stars.

  12. That Shooting Star is spectacular! It seems late for the Pasqueflower - must have been a wet summer. Great shots!

  13. Nice work. I was in Seattle for almost a week and everyone kept saying - have you seen Mount Rainier?
I hadn't. Then one day the clouds cleared and there it was as big as life itself.
    Amazing. Your photo is stunning.
