Teton Grandeur

Last Saturday, we packed up and headed for Yellowstone National Park.  On the way, we drove through Jackson Hole.
The majesty of the jagged Teton range tend to make a camera bug become buggier than usual.
The view over a sparkling Jackson Lake deserved another photo session.
At the northern end of the Grand Teton National Park, we came to our first animal-related traffic jam.  People don't seem to mind traffic jams of this kind.  Mostly, they just park and get out their binoculars, spotter scopes, and cameras, often hugely expensive models with foot-long lenses attached.
This time we had a moose jam.  Two bull moose were chilling in a pond, paying no attention whatsoever to the avid tourists.
Bull moose are usually tolerant creatures, but still, don't you think these tourists were pushing their luck?

  2. Those people are asking for it....really. They should NOT be that close. It is not good for the moose or THEM.
That area is just gorgeous...so nice you were able to visit too!

  3. Wow! The Tetons are majestic and you've captured their grandeur wonderfully.
I agree that those tourists are pushing their luck with the moose.

  4. Oh My Heart... That is on our list of places to visit... Hope we get there sooner than later.

Gorgeous pictures--and we'd be right there taking pictures of that moose... ha

  5. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!
And I thought I was crazy to run during "moose season" out here....
They must not know what can happen here?

  6. That's crazy! People think a national park is like going to an amusement park. Awesome photos! We are going to Jackson/Tetons/Yellowstone for two weeks in August! I can't wait!

  7. That last shot is so funny! It's been years since we've been through that area. I wonder if our trail will ever take us that way again? Your photos are making me think.

  8. True turons. Your capture is great, and from a safe distance.

  9. I think those tourists are not being very smart. I love Yellowstone but many of the patrons seem to think they are at a petting zoo.

  10. You captured the majesty of the Grand Tetons, Janie. I would love to visit Jackson Hole and Yellowstone someday.

    Enjoy your journey,

  11. I think I'd be a little wary of getting too close to a beast of this size and one with such a terrific rack, too. What a wonderful sight, though!

  15. Awesome photos, Janie. Quite a photogenic range. The gray is almost purple. I wonder if that's where the Purple Mountain Majesty got its name. BTW, what type of camera do you use? You told me once but now I forgot and might be buying one.

  16. So *that's* what those Tetons look like! They were shrouded in thick clouds when we visited. These are stunning images, Janie!

As for the moose, I certainly wouldn't want him charging at me!

  17. It's a good thing the moose were so tolerant, considering how close the tourists were!

I remember driving by the Tetons when I was a kid. They seemed to rise straight out of the plain.

  18. People forget their common sense when it comes to wild animals. Wild animals are---WILD---and therefore unpredictable. It's bad enough with squirrels and chipmunks, but moose? bear? bison? Those guys are big and not to be messed with.

Love the Tetons and Yellowstone. Have not been for many many years.

  20. Yes, before you mentioned it I was wondering if these tourists were getting a little bold. Guess they lucked out that time.
