Just Ducky

Our creek has provided good bird watching this spring.
Here are the mallard pair who reside there full time.
They made a nest in the cattails.  Steve saw the mama duck proudly leading about 10 tiny ducklings a few days ago, but we haven't managed a photo of them yet.
A cinnamon teal stops in to visit sometimes.
Black swans from our neighbor's pond add a touch of class.  They are exotics, native to New Zealand and Australia.

  1. Beautiful, Janie. Don't think I have ever seen a black swan before (except in pictures). They are AWESOME.....

And congrats to Mama and Daddy Duck. Hope you get some pictures of the babies.

Love that teal also. Beautiful color.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  3. Oh dear, I read that statement about the mama duck really wrong. Instead of "leading" I read "eating." When I read further about how you intend to get pictures, I became a bit scandalized but soon realized my mistake. Thank goodness. Oh and those black swans are gorgeous.

  13. Great watery shots, Janie. It looks as though you have a lot of water fowl. I love Black Swans and could never get a decent photo of them when we were in New Zealand. They always just looked like black dots on the turquoise sea.

  14. The Black Swans and Cinammon Teal are gorgeous. I grew up on a lake with 50-60 resident Mallards and they were a lot of fun to watch. They are such beautiful ducks.
