Over the Pass

Every time we ride on Little Mountain, we try a slightly different route.
This time, we went over a pass to an unnamed spring.
On the way we had a nice view (above) of Red Mountain, north of Vernal, with the snow-capped High Uintas in the background.

On the way down, we had a hazy view of the Uinta Basin.
Little Mountain has its own share of red hills.
Some of the hills have layers of red and green.  Above, in the center of the photo, you can see the steep dirt track we followed.
I've put a green pointer to show the meadow where our trailer was parked, still a long way away.

  1. Wow! That is a long way away. Such is the beauty of riding a horse and being able to cover so much more ground than on foot.

  3. Hi Janie, OH ---I love that 2nd picture of Red Mountain and the High Uintas.

Thanks for the pointer... You all did ride for quite awhile since the trailer is far away....

Thanks for sharing such gorgeous beauty.
    Hugs,

I like the colors interspersed in those hills/mountains.

  5. Yikes! That is a far distance still to go. It took me a while to find that pointer (but not as long as your ride back!) :^)

  7. Beautiful scenery - I need some bare ground. Still too much snow.

  8. You certainly had a long ride on this trip, but the scenery is spectacular. The deep blue of the water of the spring is amazing, but I really like your second picture. It is absolutely beautiful.

  9. That last photo tells the tale. You guys had a long ways to go to get back to the trailer. And then load the horses, and then go home, and unload the horses and put everything up. Lots of work, but worth it.

Ain't no law saying you can't name that spring, you know.
