Trail Boss

The Boss is back.
This was our first ride with Boss and Coco.  They got along fine.
We rode up an Indian Canyon trail for some excellent mountain views.
On a windy, rocky ridgetop, we stopped at a small grove of Great Basin bristlecone pines.
If you enlarge, you can see the bristles on the cones that give the tree its name:
Bristlecone pines grow very slowly and can live over 4000 years.
We'll be gone the rest of this week. With luck, we'll have some fun adventures to share when we return.

  5. I wouldn't want to have an encounter with a Bristlecone Pine.... 4000 years, huh???? Wow---those trees could tell us all a little about life, couldn't they????? ha

Did you ride on Coco or Boss???? I'm sure that Boss has been crying recently ---being left home alone!!! ha

Have a wonderful trip. Can't wait to see pictures.

  6. Hi Janie, I love the photo of the pine cones. Are your Bristlecones there getting a fungus? Ours here are and many are dying - it is some kind of rust canker. Have a good adventure!

  8. Bristlecone pines are amazing in their longevity and rugged beauty. I think I've read that the oldest living tree in the world is a bristlecone pine.

Fantastic mountain view in your third photo!
