Sand hills, that is.
In the afternoon heat, most critters are hanging out in the shade, but we see signs of them everywhere.
Lizard tracks (the line is from their dragging tails),
beetle tracks (These prints look like mini-bicycle tire tracks, don't they?)
and rabbit tracks.
These arcs look like a critter traveled in circles, but the effect is from wind swirling the grass blades through the sand.
The ants are out and busy, storing supplies for a rainy day (fat chance in the desert!) or maybe for the winter's chill.

Wonderful shots, Janie. Isn't it amazing how the more you look the more you see. That sounds so obvious so why do we miss you much?
ReplyDeleteHi Janie, Yes---the critters may be hiding from the sunshine, but they have been busy... Love seeing all of the prints on the sand... Reminded me of us seeing all of the prints on the snow up here in winter.

ReplyDeleteWe get our footprints in the mud and the marl, mostly wet ... although we have some remnant sand beds too.

ReplyDeleteThe first shot is lovely with the blooms in such dry conditions. I would not have know the lizard tail tracks! The beetle tracks really do look like tire tracks.
ReplyDeleteThese are such great shots Janie, I love trying to figure out what exotic or rather normal critter has wondered through the dunes or on the beach...it is amazing what you can come up with!
